Drayton Manor Theme Park

24 June 2012 by Eileen

After months of hassling from my son, we had finally save enough Tesco Clubcard points to purchase tickets. The park also has a Fun Day Friday – by wearing yellow, each ticket costs only £10.  Okay, so I had to force Ms C to wear a yellow shirt on top of her Peppa Pig dress. But she did wear it.

Drayton Manor Theme park used to be free for under 4 years old. Since last year, they started charging children over 2 years old. Also this year, 2012, they started to charge a car parking fee of £3!! Robbery! Now it costs so much more to go there.

Drayton Manor Park is the home of Thomas Land. It is located right in front of the entrance. There are about 4 gentle rides for very young children. They are Sodor Classic Cars, Blue Mountain Engines, Lady’s Carousel and Knapford Station.  Both my kids enjoy riding on these. There are also more thrilling rides for children but my children haven’t developed their thrill seeking nature yet!

After exploring Thomas Land, we took a train at Knapford station to Farmer McColls Farm. This is the new place where Terence’s Driving School is located.

There is a height limit (For 1 metre to 1.3 metre only) for this. Luckily, Ms K worn his wellies and he just managed to reach 1 metre. Hooray! He loved driving Terence around so much and went on it at least 5 times! Next to it, is the Thomas & Friends Exhibition.

Due to the severe weather, they had to close Spencer’s Outdoor Play Area. We walked past the Dino trail. Our kids are not a massive fan of dinosaurs. We walked around the zoo and look who is behind my two monkeys! Also due to the rain, most of the animals went back to their little hiding places! We also had a boat ride (Drayton Queen Boat) with a bag of candy floss! It gave me a bit of rest after so much of walking. Great!  Enjoying the lovely wind and lot of rain! It is a big park, so I just want to highlight a few rides that are more suitable for young children like: Wild West Shoot Out, Drayton Queen Boat, Big Wheel, Pirate Adventure and those rides in Thomas Land. It is a great family day out for young or old.  We had a fabulous time!

I really want to take Bud to Drayton Manor soon. I know he would love Thomasland and the zoo. We’ll have to go before LM turns two! Thanks for linking up to #WHWH

Took me a second to realise this is an old post right? I really hate these places that charge for parking – see my linked post – it makes me so cross. But saying that we love Thomasland #WHWH

That’s a shame they’ve started charging for 2 and over and for parking. Crazy! Glad you had a good day though.

Two thumbs up from Kieren shows how much he enjoyed the park and I am sure they can’t wait to go there again.

[…] Can you guess who’s song is that?  Of course it is Thomas & Friends!  Today, we were very lucky to get invited to visit Drayton Manor Park which is the home of Thomas Land! It is near Tamworth and very well sign posted. The sat nav might take you to the wrong entrance, so be careful, as there is a big sign written no access to Drayton Manor Park. There are a lot of parking spaces and costs £3 for parking. We have been here before and I had blogged about our experience which you can read here.
